What Customers Say About Breville CT70XL Ikon 2-Slice Electric Toaster:

I highly recommend this toaster. It has a great modern look and operates wonderfully. Glad it happened though because I love my new toaster. I also like that the readout goes to "sleep" mode after you're done using the toaster, so you save some energy. I threw out my old toaster thinking that it didn't work anymore. Turned out it was the outlet that was malfunctioning. I love the digital readout that lets you know when the time is almost done.

We had tried several different brands since our inherited 1960's vintage Sunbeam gave up it's ghost and none could compare until we received this Breville. My wife received this toaster as a gift in 2007 and it has been an outstanding performer. I would recommend this toaster to anyone who wants consistency in performance.

also, as others have said, the plug is a nuisance in tight spaces because it sticks out so much. i am sending this back. if you leave the toaster plugged in all the time, the led display is on all the time, which is a waste of energy for those of us who don't toast every day. yes, it's easier to pull out that way, but it takes up too much space and if they had an on/off button one wouldn't have to keeping plugging and replugging.

In reading reviews of other toasters on this site, I'm inclined to believe that this one is a best buy for speed, design, and consistency. The "Bagel" button works beautifully, too, resulting in crispy tops yet warm and chewy crusts.Besides the buttons for "Cancel and "Bagel" there are buttons for "Defrost" and "Reheat" (which warms up the bread without making it any browner). has a button called "a little bit more" which will toast a little longer if the toast isn't quite brown enough.Since this model also allows you to raise the bread to inspect it mid-cycle (you just have to raise the lever manually), the only major difference is the "little bit more" button, which isn't a feature I'd probably use much anyway. Now, on to this model's toasting prowess: It toasts bread faster than my infrared toaster oven, and does it far more evenly, too. The LED display is bright and easy to see, though if looking at it from a sharp angle it becomes difficult to read.I've tried several brands and models of toasters lately, included Kenmore's top of the line model and another from a brand called "Toastess". I couldn't bring myself to pay $100+ for a toaster, and 2.

The Kenmore took three times longer to toast than my toaster oven, and the Toastess was incredibly uneven: one slice was hardly warm, and the other was black. I love the fact that you can raise the lever to inspect the progress on your bread without canceling the toasting cycle (there's a handy "Cancel" button next to the lever in case you need to stop toasting). this toaster, with it's manual lift and lower mechanism, has fewer electronic gee-whiz features that can potentially break down. When comparing the two models, I found that this toaster does everything the expensive model does with two exceptions: 1. I almost bought the super expensive Breville toaster Breville BTA820XL Die-Cast 2-Slice Smart Toaster that has an electronic lift and lower mechanism for about twice the price as this one, but decided to buy this one for two reasons: 1. the expensive one lowers and lifts the bread electronically (and includes a button for raising the bread to inspect it mid-cycle), 2.

And, of course, there's the nicely-designed dial for selecting the amount of time you want to toast.

You will not be disappointed with this toaster. You get the best toast the first time. It is the best toaster ever. Toasting bagels are the best with this toaster. I own the larger version of this Breville toaster. This is the second Breville that I have purchased as gifts. You do not have to keep toasting your bread until you get it the way you want it.
